In math this week we focused on continuing to give our students a strong foundation in decimal place value and learning to write decimals in unit, word, and expanded forms. Students should be familiar with each form, and will now be applying it to decimals. We will be comparing decimals and rounding decimals next week.
Students took their STAR Math assessment this week. This test assesses their overall grade level math progression. Please be on the lookout for a letter detailing the results.
*We will be taking our Unit 1 Mid Module assessment next Friday, September 1st. We will be doing a review in class on Thursday that will be sent home that day.
This week we got to have the awesome experience of viewing the solar eclipse. Students spent the day in class learning about solar eclipses, and more specifically the uniqueness of this eclipse. It was a very special event, and I’m glad to be able to spend it with your child.
The rest of this week and next week will be spent focusing on each step of the scientific method. Having a strong understanding of the scientific method will help students be successful when it comes time to doing their science fair projects. We are putting extra focus on identifying variables, asking testable questions, and collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
